American Theater Group is proud to present The Unwitting Magician, a unique theatrical and magical experience. A lone actor steps onto a bare stage—armed with little more than a music stand and a sealed manila envelope. Inside: a script they have truly never seen, its contents a complete mystery. The actor has no idea what sort of play or theatrical experience may unfold. As the actor reads the script to the audience, he (or she) is swept into a whirlwind of impossible feats and playful surprises, becoming an unwitting magician and inviting the audience to question who is truly in control—the performer, the script, or something more magical still?
The Unwitting Magician is written by Jeremy Dobrish, a nine-time published playwright who founded Adobe Theatre Company as well as co-founded Midtown Direct Rep, in Maplewood, NJ. It will feature Eric William Morris (Broadway’s King Kong and FX’s Fleishman is in Trouble) at the Saturday performance and Stephanie Kurtzuba (Film: The Irishman, TV: The Good Wife) at the Sunday performance.
These performances are offered as “pay-what-you-wish,” with a minimum donation of $5 and a recommended donation of $20. Please note that since tickets are considered a donation, they must be purchased one at a time.
